The Storyteller

Hey, I'm Sherina, a Dallas-based photographer, videographer, and storyteller at heart. But my story doesn't start in Dallas. It starts in Alaska.

Growing up in a small Alaskan town, I learned early to listen to sit with people's stories and to capture the moments unfolding around me. I was always the one taking pictures and journaling whatever was happening, holding onto the beauty of the places I was lucky enough to see.

Later, working in the airline industry, I traveled to towns and villages I never imagined I'd reach, and I met the most amazing, beautiful people along the way people with the most wonderful stories. I've always believed those stories deserve to be captured and shared. Sometimes what a person has lived through becomes the very thing that helps someone else navigate their own life. And beyond that, I simply believe people's stories are beautiful.

A few years ago, my father passed away, and everything changed for me. In my grief I understood something I'll never let go of: how much it means to be able to return to a memory a photograph, a video, a voice and find the people we love still there. His passing reminded me how important it is to live out your dreams and the purpose God gave you. Mine is storytelling. I don't take that lightly anymore.

I've been in love for a long time, and I've always loved telling love stories but the truth is, our own lives are the love stories. Every one of them. That's why I'm moving more and more toward storytelling through both photography and film capturing not just a single frame, but the whole feeling of a life as it's being lived.

When I'm telling a story, I'm doing it from a single image  I want you to look at one photograph and feel the emotion in it, and at the very same moment want to know so much more. I tell stories from the heart of a small-town Alaskan girl who got to experience the world for the first time, and never stopped seeing the wonder in it.

When we work together whether it's a photography session or a storytelling film  it's about understanding who you really are. My hope is to create a warm hug of a body of work, something you can feel as much as see, where the love and the passion are right there in every frame. It never feels like a stiff, posed photoshoot. It feels like being seen.

I'm originally from Alaska, and I made Dallas home at the end of 2017 during my years in the airline industry. I picked up a camera about fifteen years ago, and what began as something I loved has grown into a true calling turning my passion into a life of storytelling. And while I love photography as a whole, my favorite sessions are the ones outside, with people experiencing nature and life. I'm endlessly drawn to the natural colors of the world.

Because here's what I believe: your story deserves to be told well. Not staged into something it isn't  but captured for exactly what it is. Yours.
